Objection

The Book of Mormon Is Another Testament

The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and confirms Joseph Smith's prophetic calling.

Additional scripture claims must be tested by whether they agree with the apostolic gospel already entrusted to the church and by whether their public claims can bear examination.

State the claim before critique

The Book of Mormon is presented by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as another testament of Jesus Christ and a witness to Joseph Smith's prophetic role.

Apply the gospel test

Paul's warning in Galatians reaches even a claimed heavenly message. A later scripture claim must be tested by the apostolic gospel, not used to redefine that gospel.
